Caleb studies Essek for a moment and hops off the stone altar. His body language changes, becoming more warm and open as he walks over to a villager and begins chatting with them. He's using all the skills taught to him by his mentor to get people to open up and give him the information he wants to know.

He keeps one eye on Essek to make sure he doesn't need to step in and smooth over an issue. It wouldn't due to upset their hosts and start trouble.
